As Amy turned the corner to see her soon to be husband, Ryan, for their First look, all the emotions of the day hit. Her eyes welled up with the tears she had been holding back all morning. This was it… the moment things became real and the reality she was getting married today. Slowly she walked up to him, stood still for just a few moments before she softly spoke his name. When he turned around, Ryan’s smile grew ear to ear as he looked lovingly at the beauty that stood before him. The woman who would be his new wife in just a few short hours!
This spring has been a rainy one here in Cincinnati and the first Saturday of May was no exception to the trend. Though the weather may have not been radiant, the love these two share for one another more than made up for it throughout the the entire day. Amy and Ryan are simply one of the most adorable couples we have worked with. The way they each showed their love in simple gestures, such as reach for his hand or making sure the rain kept off his bride, make our hearts jump for joy the whole time we spent with them. As wedding photographers, there is nothing more we could ask for!
Purple makes Nicole’s heart jump for joy as it’s her favorite color!
How stunning is the back of her dress! We were obsessed!
Amy and Ryan became husband and wife at The Wedding Chapel at St. Aloysius. As a Thailand native, Amy, is a Buddhist but with such different wedding tradition from Ryan’s Christian upbringing, the couple opted for a traditional protestant ceremony. Amy was escorted down the aisle by her mother, both were grinning ear to ear! A woman happy to become someone’s wife and a woman happy to see her daughter become someone’s wife!
As we chatted with the couple before the wedding, both expressed how nervous they were for the ceremony, as neither enjoyed being in front of large groups of people…AND being the center of attention. But they nailed it and were amazing! Naturals even! As we captured their ceremony, the smiles and adoring eyes remain locked on each other. From our perspective, it was as if the world had melted away and only the two of them remained.
After the ceremony, our hope was the rain would stay away long enough for some portraits around the chapel, but mother nature had a different plan, as it rained (again). Since we were not able to use the outside of the chapel’s property since there was no covered area, Amy had one simple request… photos with the Cincinnati Skyline behind her. So, Nicole hopped onto the party van with the bridal party and they headed to George Rogers Clark Park. Since it was STILL drizzling, only the bride and groom hopped off the van to capture a few “Just Married” portraits as they cuddled under the umbrella with the foggy Ohio River and Cincinnati Skyline behind them. (One bummer… the Cincinnati Reds were beginning their game for the evening as were were doing portraits by the river, when we heard the National Anthem. During the anthem, a couple fireworks were set off… well, we waited for the end of the song in hopes a few more fireworks would grace the sky. Who wouldn’t want firework photos in their portraits… BUT NOTHING! Not… another… firework. Guess we can’t win them all.)
Topping off the beginning of their married life, Amy and Ryan enjoyed the company of their family and friends at the Devou Park Golf & Event Center. To kick off the evening, the Father of the Groom, Charlie, gave a pre-dinner toast. Charlie went one step above and learned a phrase in Thai, so he could properly greet and welcome Amy’s family. Can you think of a better way to show love, acceptance, and respect for your new daughter in law and her family?! Neither can we!
Um… you know we couldn’t pass up a photo of a toy camera!
This sweet and reserved couple impressed the entire room during their first dance. The two twirled around the dance floor like pros in a self-taught and self-choreographed danced thanks to YouTube! Once again, they were nervous for this part, as they knew all eyes would be on them once again. However, as they danced and focused on one another, we witnessed a room full of people disappeared and pure joy emerged as they danced with one another!
This was the couple who has been married the longest! #goals
We couldn’t resist getting a photo in front of the photo booth backdrop with our sweet couple to end the night! Thanks to our assistant, Morgan, for getting a great shot of us!
Amy and Ryan, watching from across the room, we witness simply how happy you two are when you’re around each other. As your maid of honor and best man speeches said, you two were the perfect match for one another! The love we witness will continue to grow and evolve as your lives grow and evolved. We wish you many years of pure happiness and simple love for each other. May the feeling you had on the first day of the rest of your lives always be there!

What a gorgeous couple and wedding! I love that in spite of the rain they were able to get some sweet images outside under the umbrella and with the skyline in the back! I also loved reading their first look story! You explained the moment so beautifully!
