October weddings are our favorites… maybe because we have a personal attachment to the month or maybe it’s because they’re just awesome. The weather is beautiful, the colors are bold and rich, and couples are always the best! This past weekend, we headed a little north to Stone Valley Meadows in Franklin Ohio to capture Olivia and Tyler’s wedding day!!!
Two years ago on October 2, Olivia and Tyler had made a decision to take the next step in their relationship and set their sights on the future as Mr. and Mrs. The first time they met, neither saw this coming as Olivia was Tyler’s boss’ boss. However, fast forward a few years and they stood at the alter to start the next chapter of their life.
Olivia opted to share a Daddy Daughter First Look! Afraid her dad would be more emotional than he was comfortable with, they wanted their time together to be private (minus… us the photographers). On his first try, he turned the wrong direction, but quickly adjusted and turned the correct way. Like all wedding days, not everything goes 100% as planned, but still it did not take away from their brief time together. While her dad did not shed tears, he did sport a smile ear to ear.
First Looks are one of our favorite parts of the wedding day and when a couple is just as excited for them, we secretly do a happy dance. When we discussed Olivia and Tyler’s First Look, Olivia expressed she wanted to do a “reverse” First Look. She wanted to be in place and him come around the corner to see her, perfectly on display, especially the train of her dress as it was one of her favorite features of the gown.
While walking around the corner wouldn’t have been as feasible as initially thought, we were able to accommodate her request a bit. Olivia was set up and her train was meticulously spread out, but Tyler was positioned in front of her with his eye closed. When she softly spoke giving him permission, Tyler opened his eyes and standing a few feet from him was his beautiful soon to be wife. These two shared sweet hugs and kisses along with looks of love and admiration.
During their ceremony, they opted for a different kind of unity ceremony. Olivia and Tyler each choose a color of glass frits to represent themselves. As a symbol of their lives being combined into one, they poured their respective color into a jar together. After their wedding day, they will meet with a local glass blower to have a one of kind piece of artwork created out of their glass frits.
The reception space was set up with a few personal touches… all the geometric shapes were welded by Tyler himself and the jars of honey were from Olivia’s father’s personal beehive.
Before the party part of the reception kicked off, Olivia’s father chose to play his guitar for all the guest as Olivia (along with her mom and sister) led a sing along.
Olivia and Tyler, we hope your wedding day was everything you dreamed about! You both looked amazing and were wonderful to be around for the day! There were so many parts of you two throughout everything, we could tell it was your day. As this is the start of your forever together, we wish you nothing but the best for all days to come!
Welcome to the married kids club,
Nicole & Ryan
