There are days when you meet two wonderful yet very unique souls and just know they are perfect for one another. This is exactly how we felt when we had dinner with Beth and Adam earlier this year. However, our thoughts were solidified during their summertime engagement photos just a little north of Cincinnati in the small city of Lebanon.
Beth and Adam traveled the same circle for years (and probably crossed paths). These two self proclaimed board game nerds met at the Columbus Origins Game Fair. As they were not living in the same neck of the words, the start of their relationship was long distance as he lived in Dayton Ohio but she was all the way up in Boston.
When he knew the time was right, Adam began planning a big surprise for Beth. He knew “any old” store bought ring would not be for his unique woman, so using the diamond Beth’s father used to propose to her mother, he took it to a jewelers to have the perfect setting designed for her.
Not only did he use her family’s heirloom diamond, he arranged for her very close out of town friends to come into town to “celebrate” her birthday… or at least that was the cover story. During their long distance dating years, Beth and Adam would spend their time together doing escape rooms, so it was only appropriate for them to celebrate Beth’s birthday at one.
While at the escape room, Adam proposed to Beth on her birthday, surrounded by her friends. Spoiler alert… she said yes!!!!
As we discussed their engagement session, so many amazing ideas were thrown out as possible locations. Originally there was talk of their favorite board game shop, an escape room, or maybe even the Ohio Renaissance fair… however, the couple have a love of trains and decided the best spot was the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad! TBH… it was such an amazing spot and we enjoyed doing a little walking around the city as well before finishing up at the rail yard! (Special shout out and thanks to Stacy with the railroad helping me coordinate a great day for these two to have their photos done with the trains in the yard)!
Beth and Adam, thanks for choosing us as the photographers for your wedding day. We are absolutely excited to capture your big day (and celebrate Adam’s birthday) at the Newport Aquarium next spring time (especially with the penguins)!!!! Our time during your engagement session was fantastic and can’t wait to see how much fun we have together on your wedding. Until then, enjoy this chaotic season of wedding planning, because it will go by quickly!
