It was a brisk spring day, with the sun hiding behind a blanket of clouds. While it may not have been as warm as it could have been, the skyline of downtown from The View at Mount Adams was perfect spot for a spring wedding in Cincinnati.
This year we kicked off our wedding season with Brenda and Nick. After meeting them at a bridal show, we just knew they would a fun, vibrant, and emotional couple. And yes they checked off all the boxes on their wedding day.
Nick was adamant on one detail for their wedding day, he did not want to see Brenda before she walked own the aisle to him; therefore, they opted against a first look. However, Brenda did not want to go the entire afternoon without at least feeling the touch of her love. As a compromise, these two shared a first touch. The emotions of what was about to happen in a few short hours overwhelmed Brenda as she tried her hardest to hold it together. But Nick was grinning his adorable smile while holding her hand.
Their wedding ceremony was extra special for them as Brenda’s father was the officiant. Not only was Brenda escorted own the aisle by her mother and stepdad but she got to walk toward her future husband and father. Both whom saw her for the first time as she approached them with a huge smile on her face. The cutest thing was her dad took a video of her walking towards him while her soon to be husband, Nick, couldn’t take his eyes off of her for a second.
One of our favorites parts of a wedding day is watching a couple actually get married. As much as we love doing portraits of them or capturing them on the dance floor, their true happiest always comes out during this part of the day. The smiles and laughter that cannot be contained. The adorning eyes and secret glances. The sweet touches of wiping away a joyful tear. This is what a wedding day is truly about, the marriage.
Knowing they were about to celebrate their wedding with their favorite people who traveled from as far as Africa to share this day with them, Brenda and Nick wanted a few private moments together as a newly married couple. Right after their ceremony, these two tucked away in the bridal suite to share private vows they wrote for one another. To them, this was such a special moment, they opted to forgo photos of this time.
This early April spring wedding in Cincinnati was overcast all day long. While this was great for the most part, it did put a small damper in our plans to go outside for photos just before sunset during golden hour. However, mother nature smiled upon as she allowed the sun to make an appearance for a few moments, just as dinner was finishing up. Of course, we grabbed the couple and snuck away for just a few minutes of photos. While we had planned for these photos, it happened sooner than expected. Because Brenda and Nick trusted our judgment, they were able to get these amazing golden hour photos.
As the night settled in over city, the couple, their families and friends celebrated a wonderful union. During the party, there were great drinks, plenty of wonderful dance music (even if some of the teens were a bit embarrassed by their parents dancing like they were 20 again), and what is a spring wedding in Cincinnati without some local faves. Hello Skyline Cheese Conies and Graeter’s ice cream!
As a surprise to her future husband, Brenda choose to invest in a live wedding painter. Lillian started her day with painting the grand chandelier which was the focus of both the ceremony and reception. As the evening progressed, the couple were added from a moment captured on their day.
